一、学校概况

Ⅰ University Introduction

山西农业大学和山西省农业科学院已于2019年合署改革，山西农业大学太谷校区概况如下

Shanxi Agricultural University and Shanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences have merged in 2019. Now, Shanxi Agricultural University has two campuses, namely, Taiyuan (capital city of Shanxi Province) Campus and Taigu Campus. The brief introduction of Shanxi Agricultural University (Taigu Campus) is as follws.

山西农业大学太谷校区创建于1907年，是一所以农业科技为优势，多学科协调发展的综合性大学。 1979年列入全国重点高校。学校距离山西省会太原50千米，占地面积1442000平方米，总建筑面积约438000平方米。校园建设古今交融， 园中有园，文明和谐，绿地面积广，名贵，稀有树种多，被誉为“花园大学”。

Shanxi Agricultural University (Taigu Campus) in Taigu was founded in 1907. With a predominance of agricultural sciences, it is a multi-disciplinary comprehensive university under the Education Commission of Shanxi Province. It is one of the key universities of the country. The university campus, covering an area of 1,442,000 sq. Meters, is 50  kilometers from Taiyuan，the capital of Shanxi. The campus, with a total floor space of over 438,000 sq. meters, are cradled in a lovely landscape with ancient buildings, tall trees and flowers. It is renowned for her “garden campus.”

现有农学院、动物科技学院、林学院、园艺学院、资源环境学院、工学院、经济管理学院、食品科学与工程学院、文理学院、生命科学学院、公共管理学院、马克思主义学院（思想政治理论教学研究部）、信息科学与工程学院、体育教学部、软件学院、城乡建设学院、中德学院、信息学院等教学单位。学科专业涵盖了农学、理学、工学、经济学、管理学、文学、法学、艺术学等8个门类。有博士后科研流动站8个，一级学科博士学位授权点5个，二级学科博士学位授权点26个；一级学科硕士学位授权点13个，二级学科硕士学位授权点50个，专业硕士学位授权点5个；国家重点（培育）学科1个，省级重点学科5个，省级重点建设学科5个，省级重点扶持学科4个，省级优势学科1个，省级特色学科4个，省优势学科攀升计划学科1个，省服务产业创新学科群1个；本科专业62个；成人函授本科专业11个，成人函授专科专业6个；主考的自学考试本科专业4个，专科专业5个。

Shanxi Agricultural University (Taigu Campus) comprises 18 colleges and departments, offering 77 specialties. They include the College of Agriculture, the College of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, the College of Forestry, the College of Horticulture, the College of Resources and Environment, the College of Engineering, the College of Economics and Trade , the College of Food Engineering, the College of Public Management, the School of Software, the College of Urban and Rural Construction and the Department of Physical Education etc. There are 8 postdoctoral research centers and 31 specialties entitled to confer Doctor’s degrees, 68 Master’s, 77 Bachelor’s programs. In addition, the University has 1 key specialties of the nation, 10 key specialties of Shanxi Province, 90 laboratories and 10 product bases.

学校重视对外交流，与美、英、西班牙、韩国、爱尔兰、新西兰等国的10余所院校建立了校际交流关系，特别是与美国欧柏林大学有长达百余年的合作历史。

The university participates actively in academic exchanges and establishes academic relations with universities and research institutions in the U.S, Britain, Spain, Korea, Ireland and New Zealand etc. Notably the university has enforced the traditional friendship and academic exchange with Oberlin College of the US over 100 years.

二、 招生简介

留学生来山西农业大学太谷校区学习，可选择申请攻读硕士或博士学位项目；也可以申请非学历项目，进修专业课程，从事专题研究或短期培训项目。

三、 学制与学年

III. Study Duration and academic schedule

硕士研究生学制3年，博士研究生学制3年。可以根据学业完成情况申请适当提前或延期毕业。

每学年分为春、秋两个学期，学期的安排根据中国农历春节的时间，每年略有不同。第一学期（秋季学期）始于每年8月底或9月初，于次年1月中下旬结束；第二学期（春季学期）始于每年2月下旬或3月初，于当年7月中旬结束。每学年有寒假和暑假两个长假期，暑假通常为6周，寒假通常为4周左右，与中国的春节假日相连。具体开学和放假时间请参看当年的校历。

The normal duration of study for each program is as follows: 3 years for master's degrees, and 3 years for doctoral degrees. Students may, in particular cases, apply for early or delayed graduation.

SXAU divides every academic year into spring and autumn semesters, with the latter marking the commencement of the academic year. The autumn semester starts in late August or early September and ends in mid- or late January of the following year, while the spring semester begins in late February or early March and ends in mid-July. There will be a winter and summer vacation every year. The summer vacation usually lasts 6 weeks and the winter vacation lasts 4 weeks and normally coincides with the Chinese New Year. Please check the latest academic calendar for details.

申请者需将所有申请材料纸质版提交或邮寄至山西农业大学外事处（地址见联系方式）。

Applicant should deliver the hard copy of the application form and other required materials to Foreign Affairs Office, Shanxi Agricultural University (address is enclosed in the item Contact Information)

3. Qualification of Applicants

1）申请者须为年满18周岁持有效外国护照的非中国籍公民，身体健康，品行良好，愿意遵守中国政府的法律和学校的规章制度，尊重中国人民的风俗习惯。

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with good health, valid passport, above the age of 18, and should abide by Chinese law and the regulations of SXAU. They should also respect Chinese social customs.

2）语言要求：

2) Requirement of language proficiency:

(a) 中文授课项目的申请者应有的汉语水平：人文、社科、管理项目申请者一般应在入学前通过汉语水平考试HSK5级以上；理工科类项目申请者一般应在入学前通过汉语水平考试HSK4级以上。

(a) For programs offered in Chinese: applicants for the programs of humanities, social sciences, management should pass Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) band 5 or above before admission, and those for science and engineering programs should pass Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) band 4 or above before admission.

(b) 博士研究生项目的申请者，如英语水平较高，可适当降低汉语水平要求。

(b)  For Doctoral Program applicants: if the English proficiency is sufficient, the Chinese language requirement could be adjusted for some majors.

(c) 对高级进修生和研究学者没有强制的汉语要求，但必须能同指导或合作教授进行正常的语言交流。

(c)  Senior Visiting Students and Research Scholars are not required to take the Chinese language proficiency exam, on the premise that the candidate experiences no obstacles in communicating with their advisor.

Generally, applicants must fill in and provide the following documents truly, correctly and completely.

A photocopy of the valid passport (pages with photo, including the valid visa page and residence permit page if you are already in China)

Diploma/Degree certificate. (Those who have not graduated yet shall offer Pre-graduation Certificate and academic transcript.) Undergraduate program applicants need to submit notarized photocopies of high school certificate. Master program applicants need to submit bachelor degree certificate. Doctoral program applicants need to submit both master and bachelor degree certificates.

Academic transcript. Undergraduate program applicants need to submit notarized photocopies of senior high academic transcript. Master program applicants need to submit academic transcript of undergraduate study. Doctoral program applicants need to submit academic transcripts of both graduate and undergraduate studies.

Personal Resume / CV (Doctoral program applicants and Research Scholars also need to submit brief introduction of research experience)

Chinese Language Proficiency Certificate (HSK) and score report (unless a waiver is approved). Original version is required in the process of registration.

English Language Proficiency certificate for applicants of English-taught programs (IELTS, IBT)

The applicants should send the following documents to the Foreign Affairs Office two months prior to school terms.

Applicant should pay the application fee before sending application materials.

Accept cash or on-line payment. RMB only. Non-refundable.

The application is invalid if the application materials are incomplete or the application fee is not paid.

五、奖学金

V. Scholarship

山西农业大学太谷校区国际学生可申请山西省来晋留学政府奖学金资助。奖学金用于资助学费、生活费、医疗保险费和基本教材费等的一项或几项。奖学金可提供给各层次的申请者，包括硕士研究生、博士研究生和专业进修生。奖学金优先资助来山西农业大学攻读研究生学位外国留学生。经批准获得奖学金资助的外国留学生，须参加奖学金年度考评。考评合格者可继续获得下一学年奖学金资助。

Currently, Shanxi Agricultural University (Taigu Campus) offer Shanxi Government Scholarship for International Students. The Scholarship is mostly open to both the degree program students (graduate) and the non-degree program students (the visiting/exchange students). The scholarships cover full or parts of the tuition, living allowance, medical insurance, basic textbooks etc. The outstanding international students studying for graduate degree at SXAU are given priority for scholarship. Normally the students will get the scholarship every year until they finish their study on the premise that they are approved by SXAU every year.

六、医疗保险

VI. Medical insurance

中国教育部规定，来华留学生必须购买中国大陆境内保险公司医疗保险。3个月以下的短期留学生如果能够提供已购买医疗保险的证明，则可以不参加集体保险。对于没有购买所要求的医疗保险者，学校将不予办理注册手续。

Students are required to purchase the Comprehensive Insurance Plan of Foreign Students provided by Ping An insurance company on the day of registration, which has been recognized and recommended by the Chinese Ministry of Education. A waiver of medical insurance can be considered for the Short-term international students (less than 3 months) if they can provide certificate of medical insurance coverage of the similar kind. Students who do not have valid medical insurance are not allowed to register.

七、学费标准：

硕士，博士学费各异。

The tuition fees for Master’s program and Doctoral program are different.

八、 住宿

Ⅷ Accommodation and board

我校为留学生提供宿舍，房内有电话、电视、卫生间等。双人间6美元/天/人。学生可在外国专家食堂就餐，约50美元/人月，也可到学生食堂就餐，约40美元/人月。博士生免交住宿费。

The SXAU provide the dormitory for applicants and Research Scholars, phone, TV set and bathroom are provided in the dormitory. For the double room, US$ 6 per day per person. The board expense in Foreigner Cafe is around US$ 50 per month per person. The board expense of Student Dining Hall is around US$ 40 per person. Currently, the dormitory fee is free for Ph.D students.

九、签证申请及入学报到

IX. Visa Application and Registration

被录取的学生应持普通护照、《录取通知书》、《外国来华留学人员签证申请表》、《外国人体格检查记录》及所有体格检查报告原件前往中国驻留学生所在国使（领）馆办理来华签证。最后，持以上材料按《录取通知书》规定的日期到山西农业大学外事处办理入学报到手续。具体要求请咨询当地中国大使馆。

Please bring your passport, Admission Notice, Visa Application Form (JW202), and original Form of Health Record for Foreigners to the Embassy or Consulate of the People's Republic of China, and apply for student visa, All the documents should be original. Students shall come to Foreign Affairs Office Shanxi Agricultural University for registration during the dates indicated on the Admission Notice with the aforementioned documents. Applicants can consult the Embassy or Consulate of the People's Republic of China for specific requirement.

学习时间在6个月以上入学者必须持个人普通护照和X1签证入境，在抵达中国后30天内需要到市公安局出入境管理处将X1签证转换成学习的居留许可。学习时间在半年之内可以申请X2签证。

A study period of 6 months and above requires an ordinary passport and X1 visa. Accepted applicants need to exchange their X1 visas to a Residence Permit at the local Exit and Entry Administration of Public Security Bureau, within 30 days of arrival in China. If your period of study is less than half a year, you may apply for an X2 visa.
